Turkish gendarmerie commander detained in narcotics operation

A commander of Turkey’s gendarmerie has been detained and 400 kilograms of narcotics were seized in a police operation in the western province of İzmir.

Maj. B.Ö., the district gendarmerie commander of Hakkari’s Çukurca district, will be investigated for suspected links to illegal drug trafficking. Ten other suspects, including a former sergeant of the Turkish military, were also taken into custody.

The raid took place at a villa in İzmir’s Aliağa district, according to reporting by TR724 on Wednesday.
