Orhan Osmanoğlu, the grandson of Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II, has said the areas north of Aleppo and Al Bab in northern Syria belong to his family, Cumhuriyet reported on Sunday.

“The area north of Aleppo and Al Bab are the privately registered land of Sultan Abdulhamid II. We have documents. He bought sensitive areas. He bought almost all the land surrounding Jerusalem,” said Osmanoğlu during a program organized by the Meram Municipality in Konya province.

Al Bab and some area in the north of Aleppo are now controlled by the Free Syrian Army and Turkish forces.

Osmanoğlu in addition claimed that the Iraqi cities of Mosul and Kirkuk were also the privately registered land of Sultan Abdulhamid II.
