Turkish Defense Ministry reiterates readiness to join Gaza task force

Turkey’s defense ministry said on Wednesday that the Turkish Armed Forces are prepared to take part in any mission assigned to them as part of international efforts to rebuild and stabilize Gaza following the ceasefire agreement.

Responding to Turkish reporters’ questions about whether Turkish troops would serve in the planned Gaza Task Force, ministry sources said in remarks cited by local media that the humanitarian crisis in the enclave has made the delivery of aid and the reconstruction of destroyed infrastructure an urgent priority.

“In this context, the Civilian-Military Coordination Center [CMCC] has been established to coordinate the formation of the Gaza Task Force,” the ministry said. “Under this structure, the creation of an International Stabilization Force [ISF] is planned, which will be tasked with conducting security patrols, protecting civilian infrastructure, delivering humanitarian aid, securing borders, training local security forces and monitoring the ceasefire.”

The statement added that the Turkish Armed Forces, “drawing on their experience from previous peace missions, are ready to undertake any duty assigned to them for the establishment and preservation of peace within the framework of international law.”

The ministry said Turkey continues its military and diplomatic consultations with other countries “as one of the four guarantors” of the ceasefire agreement.

The remarks come amid debate over Turkey’s possible participation in monitoring ceasefire in Gaza as well as related operations. While US officials, including Vice President JD Vance, have described Turkey’s role as “constructive,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ruled out any Turkish troop deployment in Gaza or Israeli territory.
