Turkish foreign minister to visit Egypt for talks on Gaza

Must read

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will travel to Cairo on Saturday for high-level meetings focused on Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza, bilateral ties and regional cooperation, diplomatic sources told the state-run Anadolu news agency.

Fidan is expected to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and have talks with Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. The visit comes amid growing concerns over Israel’s plan to take control of Gaza City and as ceasefire efforts continue with mediation by Egypt, Qatar and the United States.

Anadolu sources said Fidan will emphasize Turkey’s opposition to what it views as Israel’s attempt to annex Gaza and dismantle the two-state solution.

The meetings will also cover humanitarian aid access, outcomes of the recent International Conference on Palestine and joint Turkish-Egyptian efforts to support stability in Libya, Sudan and the Sahel region.
