Turkish police on Wednesday detained 18 Iraqis who are suspected members of terrorist group the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), according to Turkish media outlets.
The operation was conducted by officers from the counterterrorism and intelligence units of the Ankara Police Department on a number of locations in the Turkish capital city.
Two other suspects facing detention are still at large.
The detainees were taken to the Ankara Police Station for questioning.
Turkey declared ISIL a terrorist organization in 2013 and has been attacked by the jihadist group multiple times since then. A total of 315 people were killed and hundreds more were injured in at least 10 suicide bombings, seven bomb blasts and four armed attacks organized by ISIL in the country.
