Must read

Turkey’s Saving Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) has put property belonging to five media outlets that were closed down by the Turkish government in the aftermath of a failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016 up for sale for around TL 1 million.

The property belongs to the Jin News Agency, Azadiya Welat newspaper, Patnos FM, Bugün TV Ankara bureau and Cihan News Agency.

The equipment and fixed assets of these media outlets will be sold by sealed bid. The total value of the assets is TL 954,445.

Bidding will last until Friday evening, and the transactions will be completed after an assessment of the bids. An auction will be held on March 13 for items with multiple bidders.

In addition, six vehicles that belonged to media organizations and were transferred to the TMSF have also been put up for sale and are valued at TL 1,138,500.

The Turkish government closed down hundreds of critical media outlets through government decrees following the coup attempt, claiming that they are linked to terror organizations.
