Turkish military says 99 PKK terrorists killed in two weeks

The Turkish military said on Saturday that its security forces have killed 99 militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), including a high-ranking commander, during operations in southeastern Turkey over the last two weeks.

According to a statement from its website, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) said security forces carried out operations on outposts and caves used by the PKK for shelter and storage in the southeastern provinces of Şırnak and Hakkari, near the Iraqi border.

The TSK also said one of the terrorists among the 99 killed was a high-ranking commander of the PKK.

A total of 420 kilograms (925 pounds) of ammonium nitrate, used to make explosives, as well as bombs, guns and rifles were seized during the operations, which were carried out between Aug. 24 and Sept. 7, the military said.
