Must read

The chief legal advisor and the former chief executive of Turkey’s largest media conglomerate, Doğan Holding, who were detained in police raids on Jan. 5 over links to the Gülen movement, were released on judicial probation on Friday.

Doğan Holding’s chief legal advisor Erem Turgut Yücel and former chief executive officer Yahya Üzdiyen were released after spending eight days in detention.

Doğan Holding Ankara representative Barbaros Muratoğlu, who was arrested over Gülen links on Dec. 15, is still behind bars.

The Turkish government accuses the Gülen movement and its followers of masterminding a failed coup attempt on July 15. The movement strongly denies any involvement in the coup attempt.

Doğan Holding’s media group has strongly supported the government narrative and blames the Gülen movement in its coverage of the coup attempt.
