Turkey, coalition strike ISIL targets in Syria

Must read

US-led coalition air strikes have killed three Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants while Turkish troops struck several ISIL targets in northern Syria, the Turkish military said on Tuesday.

The strikes targeted four mortar positions and one defensive position around Syrian towns near Aleppo, the military said in the statement, adding that Turkish aircraft did not participate in the strikes.

The military said several ISIL positions were hit by Fırtına artillery systems.

Turkey on a daily basis continues to launch either artillery or air strikes on ISIL targets in northern Syria as its ground operation against the extremist group proceeds.

The military added in the statement that so far an approximately 800-square-klilometer area has been cleared of ISIL elements.
