29 TV stations closed by RTÜK for ‘illegal broadcasting’

Turkey’s Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has shut down 29 television stations for illegal broadcasting and also decided to impose sanctions on two stations for terrorist propaganda and discriminatory broadcasting, the Cumhuriyet daily reported on Saturday.
Chinko TV, Plus Life, Sultan, Welat, Cmax, Awaza Kurdi, TV Korku, Pix, Vizyon TV, Filght TV, Arti TV, Eskici TV, C Action TV, Raki TV, Arabesk Melodi, Kuzey Türk, Cinemax, Can, Ful Aksiyon, Atlas TV, Acinema, Animalbox, Sinemega, Tosun TV, Yeşil Vadi TV, The West, The Box TV, Tarz Moda TV and Süper Halay were shut down in accordance with the RTÜK decision, taken during meetings held between Aug. 17 and 24.
Van TV and Özgür Gün TV face sanctions for disseminating “terrorist propaganda” and “discriminatory” broadcasting.
