Republic Day and the 94th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey were celebrated across Turkey on Sunday.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, political party leaders and other high-level officials visited Anitkabir, the mausoleum of founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, during a ceremony marking the 94th celebration of Republic Day.
According to a report by the state-run Anadolu news agency, writing in the official Anitkabir remembrance book, Erdoğan said the spirit that brought victory in the Turkish War of Liberation and gave life to the republic is alive today as it was 94 years ago.
“The resistance that passed into history as the July 15 epic is the embodiment of this spirit and will,” Erdoğan added, referring to a failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016.
Google also marked Republic Day by displaying a Turkish flag and the Google logo in red.
