CHP refers deputy to disciplinary committee over remarks against party chairman

Must read

The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) administrative council has referred Mersin deputy Fikri Sağlar to the disciplinary committee over recent remarks that Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has established a “one man rule” in the party.

In a meeting on Sunday, the CHP council decided to refer Sağlar to the party’s higher disciplinary committee for expulsion.

Speaking with the pro-government Akşam daily on May 1, Sağlar said the CHP must hold an extraordinary party congress in order to elect a new chairman since Kılıçdaroğlu has installed a “one man rule” within the party.

Kılıçdaroğlu said during his campaign for an April 16 referendum that he was against one man rule in Turkey. However, he has become the one man,” Sağlar said.

In response to Sağlar, Kılıçdaroğlu said on May 2 that he would never allow fights within the party and indicated that those who provoke CHP members would be expelled.

We will never allow fights within [the CHP] and will put those who provoke people for a fight in front of [party’s] door,” he said.
