HDP’s deputy co-chair Tuğluk arrested

The deputy co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Aysel Tuğluk, was arrested by a Diyarbakır court on Wednesday as part of a terror investigation targeting the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Congress (DTK).

Tuğluk was detained in Ankara on Monday on charges of alleged terrorism and was taken to Diyarbakır on Tuesday. Following a police interrogation and testimony to a prosecutor, Tuğluk was arrested by a Diyarbakır court.

Turkey has been conducting a crackdown against the Kurdish political movement since Nov. 4 that has resulted in the arrest of 10 HDP deputies and several mayors from both the HDP and the Democratic Regions Party (DBP).
