Turkey among 10 countries facing US anti-dumping duties on steel imports: report

Must read

The United States Commerce Department on Tuesday issued affirmative determinations of anti-dumping and countervailing duties against steel imports from 10 countries, including Turkey, after investigations into corrosion-resistant steel products valued at $2.9 billion, Reuters reported.

The determinations also cover imports from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands, South Africa, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam, the department said in a statement.

“Commerce made its final determinations that imports of CORE into the United States from ten trading partners were being dumped and/or subsidized,” the department said, using the acronym for corrosion-resistant steel. The material is widely used in automobiles, appliances and construction.

“American steel companies and workers deserve to compete on a level playing field,” Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade William Kimmitt said.

The US International Trade Commission will next decide whether the imports caused injury to the domestic steel industry. If the ITC issues an affirmative, country-specific finding, Commerce will impose the anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders, the department said.
