Turkey reported 1,186 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of cases to 202,284, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.
The death toll, meanwhile, reached 5,167 with an increase of 17 in the last 24 hours, the chart indicated.
“Five provinces with the most cases: İstanbul, Ankara, Gaziantep, Konya, Bursa,” Koca tweeted.
İstanbul accounts for nearly 53 percent of all coronavirus cases, Koca said at a press conference on Wednesday.
A total of 176,965 people have recovered since the beginning of the outbreak in Turkey in mid-March.
In a worrying sign, the number of intensive care patients increased by 32 to 1,067. It has been rising since June 10, when the figure was 631.
The ministry does not disclose the total number of hospitalizations.
Turkey has results from 3,483,677 tests administered so far, the ministry data indicated.
