Housing sales in Turkey declined 55.5 percent in April compared to the same month last year, the Diken news website reported on Friday, citing the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
A total of 42,783 houses were sold in April, according to TurkStat.
Properties purchased with a mortgage represented 39.9 percent of the sales, with 17,088 houses.
Ä°stanbul led among provinces with 6,113 houses, followed by Ankara with 4,500 and Ä°zmir with 2,533. Ä°stanbul accounted for 14.3 percent of the sales.
On the other hand, TurkStat data showed an 8.9 percent year-on-year increase in terms of sales between January and April, with a total of 383,821 houses sold.
