The number of coronavirus cases in Turkey reached 107,773 on Saturday , while the death toll increased by 106 to 2,706, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.

In the last 24 hours nearly 38,308 new test results came in, and 2,861 people were diagnosed with COVID-19, caused by the novel coronavirus, while 3,845 patients have been discharged from the hospital.

Koca said there are 984 more patients who have recovered than the number of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.

“The percentage of the tests yielding positive results is falling,” tweeted the minister, calling on people to abide by rules aimed at containing the spread of the virus.

The chart indicates 1,782 patients are currently in intensive care, while 25,582 people have been discharged from hospitals so far.

Turkey ranks seventh in the world for the number of confirmed infections, according to Johns Hopkins University. But experts believe the actual toll of the pandemic around the world is higher than the tally.

Nearly 870,000 people have been tested in Turkey so far.
