Turkey’s interior minister says Greece ‘spoiled’ by Europe

Must read

Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu on Wednesday accused European leadership of being overly indulgent with regard to Greece, after gunfire left one migrant dead five others wounded at the Turkish-Greek border, according to a report by T24.

“Greece continues to trample on international rules and violate human rights,” Soylu tweeted, adding, “because it is being spoiled by Europe.”

“If Turkey did one in a million of these things, both Europe and Europe’s agents in Turkey would protest.”

Greek border forces reportedly opened fire on migrants, which resulted in the death of one migrant.

In response, Greece denied the allegations and accused Turkey of “spreading fake news.”

Violence erupted at the border between the two countries after Turkish authorities announced last week that they would no longer stop migrants from leaving the country.

Soylu has also been tweeting the live count of migrants who have left the country since the announcement, claiming that 135,844 people had left as of 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
