China’s Huawei makes Turkey focus of Mideast market: report

Must read

Described as a national security threat by the US, Chinese smart phone manufacturer Huawei has made its Turkey venture the focus of its Middle East market, Deutsche Welle Turkish service reported on Thursday.

In the last two years the Chinese brand grew its market share in Turkey from 3 percent to 30 percent, becoming the second most preferred smart phone in the country, the report indicated.

The first choice for nearly 50 million Turkish smart phone buyers is not Apple, but Samsung.

In addition, the Chinese brand’s second biggest research and development center is located in Turkey.

This week software giant Google announced that it will no longer provide Android service to Huawei phones, a move triggered by the economic war between the US and China.

US President Donald Trump painted Huawei as a national security threat this week.

Despite that, Turkish experts expect an increase in demand for Chinese phones in Turkey.
