Must read

Steve Sweeney, the international editor of a British newspaper, was deported from Turkey after a brief detention, his newspaper announced on Twitter on Friday.

The Morning Star stated that their international editor Sweeney went to Turkey to report on the local elections on March 31.

“… He is exhausted but ok. Says he is more determined than ever to speak out on the [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan regime’s human rights abuses,” the newspaper tweeted. Turkey is the largest jailer of professional journalists in the world, according to a 2018 report by Reporters Without Borders.
