Erdoğan says Muslims should not expect justice from UN

Must read

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday said that Muslims should not expect justice from the United Nations, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

“Do not expect anything like justice from the UN Security Council and the United Nations, do not search for it, there is no such thing [there],” Erdoğan said at an awards ceremony for the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA).

Erdoğan said Muslims are not given the right to speak about their issues or international problems at the UN Security Council.

“The fact is that the Islamic world, which has a population of 1.7 billion, does not have a permanent member in the UN Security Council,” he added.

The Turkish president went on to say that this is the reason he has called for reforms in the UN Security Council under his slogan “The world is bigger than five,” repeatedly used by Erdoğan to criticize the five permanent UN Security Council members — China, France, Russia, the UK and the US.
