Turkey to hire 110,000 civil servants in 2018

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım announced on Sunday that the government is planning to hire 110,000 civil servants in 2018, Reuters reported.

Among the total to be employed would be 36,000 medical personnel and 20,000 teachers, Yildirim said during a speech in the southeastern town of Kilis.

Turkey has suspended or dismissed more than 150,000 judges, teachers, police and other civil servants since a July 2016 failed coup through government decrees issued as part of an ongoing state of emergency, part of a witch-hunt targeting members of the faith-based Gülen movement, which is accused by the government of orchestrating the coup attempt.
