[UPDATE] 13 officers including general die in military helicopter crash

Thirteen officers including a general were killed in a helicopter crash in Turkey’s southeastern province of Şırnak on Friday, Haberturk reported.

The Şırnak Governor’s Office announced that a Cougar helicopter hit a high-tension line three minutes after taking off from the town of Şenoba in Uludere and crashed.

Haberturk listed names of the officers as Maj. Gen. Aydoğan Aydın, Col. Oğuzhan Küçükdemir, Col. Gökhan Peker, Maj. Koray Onay, Capt. Songül Yakut, Capt. İlker Acar, Capt. Nuri Şener, pilot Capt. Serhat Sığınak, pilot Lt. Abdülmüttalip Kesikbaş, Sgt. Maj. Mehmet Erdoğan, Sgt. Maj Fevzi Kıral, Spc. Sgt. Zeki Koç and pilot Spc. Sgt. Hakan İncekal.
