Turkey’s Higher Education Board (YÖK) has suspended İzmir-based Ege University’s rector Professor Mustafa Cüneyt Hoşcoşkun from his post and appointed Professor Beril Dedeoğlu, a former minister, as acting rector at the university.

In a statement on Tuesday YÖK said Professor Hoşcoşkun was suspended from his post due to an ongoing investigation into him. There was no mention of the accusations faced by the professor in YÖK’s statement.

Professor Dedeoğlu served as Turkey’s EU minister in an interim government between Sept.22-Nov. 24, 2015. Dedeoğlu is also a member of YÖK.
