Former CHP deputy: Taxi driver recorded voice of critical passenger, reported him to police

A former deputy from the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Melda Onur, has claimed that the house of one of her friends was raided by the police based on the complaint of a taxi driver, who recorded a passenger making critical statements about the government in the taxi.

In a series of messages from her Twitter account on Saturday, Onur wrote that the taxi driver secretly recorded the man while he was criticizing the government and subsequently reported him to the police, prompting a police raid on his house.

Onur wrote that her friend, who she did not identify, came across the taxi driver at the police station he went to.

The former CHP deputy also said she received many messages on Twitter in support of the taxi driver.

“So many people have stood behind a taxi driver they don’t even know. The country is filled with informants. But they will report each other one day,” she wrote.
