The Syrian army has threatened to shoot down Turkish jets that violate Syrian airspace, the Sputnik news website reported on Thursday.

“All necessary measures will be in practice next time against Turkish planes which will try to violate Syrian airspace,” said the statement by the Syrian Army.

The Syrian statement came one day after Turkish jets hit 18 targets in 26 airstrikes in areas under the control of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its armed wing the People’s Defense Units (YPG) north of the Syrian city of Aleppo.
