9 PKK terrorists killed on Tuesday

A total of nine Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members were killed in Turkey and in northern Iraq on Tuesday, according to statements released by the Turkish Armed Forces.

 

Five PKK terrorists were reported killed In an airstrike during the day targeting the Zer hill region of northern Iraq, while four others died in a separate operation in the Turkish province of Bitlis.

 

Turkey has been fighting the Kurdish separatist PKK for over 30 years, in a conflict that has cost over 40,000 lives. Its leader Abdullah Öcalan has been imprisoned on an island in the Marmara Sea since his capture in 1999.

 

A settlement process under way with the PKK failed after the June 7, 2015 elections in Turkey.
