Ankara has provided some $325 million to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC) to help it weather the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said on Tuesday.

“While preparing for the new normal, Turkey will continue to support the KKTC,” Oktay said during a video conference, according to TRT World, part of Turkish state broadcaster TRT.

Sharing details, Oktay said the financial assistance was being extended in the form of grants and loans.

He said the financial support would help cushion the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the KKTC’s economy and further improve Turkey-KKTC relations.

The last coronavirus patient in the KKTC recovered on May 11.
