Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has announced that the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus reached 7,402 in the last 24 hours, while the death toll increased to 108, with 16 more deaths.
Sharing the details of developments related to COVID-19 cases in Turkey from his Twitter account on Saturday, Koca said a total of 7,641 tests were conducted over the past 24 hours and that 1,704 more people were diagnosed to have been infected with the new coronavirus.
The first case of coronavirus in Turkey was confirmed by the minister on March 11.
Experts say the exponential increase in the number of cases poses a great danger to the Turkish public.
There are claims that the number of COVID-19 cases is actually higher than what is officially announced as many cases go unnoticed because tests are not widely performed.
First seen in the Chinese city of Wuhan, COVID-19 has spread rapidly around the world, infecting more than 600,000 people worldwide and killing more than 28,000.
