Fighters from the Syrian National Army, a Turkish-backed rebel group in northern Syria, have been holding sit-in demonstrations for two days, demanding that Ankara pay their salaries, according to the Syrian Observatory For Human Rights (SOHR), a war monitor.

The fighters have cut off the roads in the towns of Ras Al-Ain and Tal Abyad with tires, SOHR said.

Meanwhile, SOHR sources reported that violent clashes involving machineguns took place on March 5, 2020 in the Turkish-controlled village of Kafifeh in the western countryside of Tal Abyad.

According to the sources, clashes took place between the al-Majd Corps and al-Shamal Brigade after a dispute over the distribution of booty among them. Six people were killed.

Turkish forces intervened to break up the clashes.
