Professor Mustafa Muslim, brother of Salih Muslim, the former leader of the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Union Party (PYD) who is being sought by Turkey for terrorism, attended an iftar (fast-breaking) dinner with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Diyarbakır, the Hürriyet daily reported.

Abdulkadir Selvi, a columnist for Hürriyet, wrote on Tuesday that Mustafa Muslim was among 2,000 people who were invited to the iftar dinner in Diyarbakır on Sunday evening.

The Turkish Interior Ministry in February put Salih Muslim’s name on the list of “most wanted terrorists” and offered a bounty of nearly $1 million.

Former PYD leader Muslim is being sought on charges of disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state, homicide, attempted homicide, damaging public property and transporting hazardous substances.

In March, Turkey issued a second extradition request for Salih Muslim, calling for his temporary detention and extradition from Germany after a Czech court released him in February. Muslim was detained in Prague in February at Turkey’s request, based on an Interpol Red Notice.

The PYD is considered by Turkey to be the Syrian offshoot of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has been designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU.
