Turkey expands visa-free entry for Algerians over 50

Must read

Turkey has expanded visa-free travel for Algerian citizens having ordinary passports, lowering the age threshold for older travelers from over 65 to over 50.

A presidential decision published in the Official Gazette on Saturday allows Algerians younger than 15 and older than 50 to visit Turkey for tourism or transit without a visa. Eligible travelers can remain for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed the decision on Friday under Turkey’s Law on Foreigners and International Protection.

Turkey introduced the previous exemption in December 2019 for Algerian ordinary passport holders aged 15 and under and those aged 65 and above. That arrangement covered tourist visits but did not explicitly include transit travel.

Algerian citizens outside the exempted age groups must continue to obtain visas unless they have passports covered by separate exemptions.
