Turkey fines Google $8.9 mln for non-compliance with competition ruling: report

Must read

Turkey’s competition authority has fined Google approximately 355 million lira ($8.87 million) for failing to comply with regulatory requirements tied to a previous antitrust investigation, Reuters reported on Friday.

In a statement issued Thursday, the Turkish Competition Authority said Google, a subsidiary of US-based Alphabet Inc., had made design changes during a compliance process that violated earlier directives. The agency did not specify which products or services were affected but said the fine was imposed as part of ongoing monitoring of previous rulings.

The penalty follows a series of antitrust investigations in Turkey targeting Google’s dominance in areas such as mobile search, online advertising and digital marketplace services. Turkish regulators have previously fined Google and demanded changes to its search results display and advertising practices.
