Turkey has extended flight cancellations to multiple Middle Eastern countries following recent attacks targeting Iran, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said Monday.
In a statement posted on X, Uraloğlu said flights operated by Turkish Airlines (THY), AJet, Pegasus Airlines and SunExpress to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan have been suspended through March 6 due to ongoing security risks in the region.
Pegasus Airlines has separately decided to halt flights to Iran through March 12, he added.
Flights scheduled to Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates have been canceled through March 3.
Flights to Riyadh, Jeddah and Medina in Saudi Arabia, as well as to Oman, can be operated today, he said.
THY initially suspended flights to 10 countries in the Middle East on Saturday after Israel and the United States launched strikes on Iran, prompting several countries in the region to close their airspace.
The latest extension follows the ongoing joint US-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets and subsequent retaliatory attacks by Tehran. In response, Iran launched a series of strikes against Israel and Gulf countries that host US military bases, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE.
More than 4,000 flights per day have been canceled across the region, according to flight-tracking service Flightradar24, affecting hundreds of thousands of passengers.
