Seven dead, 11 injured in southern Turkey bus crash

Seven people died and 11 others were injured early Saturday when an intercity bus crashed into a truck on a highway in southern Turkey, the local governor’s office said.

The crash happened before dawn on the road linking the cities of Adana and Gaziantep, when a bus plowed into a tractor-trailer that had stopped after one of its tires blew out, state Anadolu news agency said.

Footage from the scene showed the front right section of the bus crushed where it hit the rear of the truck about 90 kilometers (55 miles) west of Gaziantep.

All of the dead and injured were on board the bus, with efforts continuing to identify the victims.

The truck driver, who survived, was detained, and police closed the road.
