Swedish fugitive sought on INTERPOL Red Notice captured in southwestern Turkey

Michael Lindström, who is wanted on an INTERPOL Red Notice for murder and possession of firearms and explosives, has been captured in Turkey’s southwestern Muğla province, the DHA news agency reported on Monday.

Lindström, 23, was detained on Monday in an operation carried out by the Muğla Provincial Gendarmerie Command in the popular holiday resort of Bodrum.

According to officials Lindström, who was the subject of an international warrant, arrived in Turkey on January 7. He reportedly flew from Morocco to İstanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport and then took a domestic flight to Milas-Bodrum Airport.

Authorities tracked his movements after he left the airport, putting him under both physical and technical surveillance. Based on intelligence gathered in coordination with the public prosecutor’s office, gendarmes raided a residence in Tilkicik Bay, where Lindström was believed to be hiding, on January 17.

During the house search, authorities seized two gun magazines, 10 bullets, nine knives, one brass knuckle and two air rifles.

Following his detention, the fugitive was arrested by a court.
