The Turkish competition authority said on Monday it had imposed a fine 482 million lira ($14.85 million) on Google over its failure to fulfill obligations related to hotel search, Reuters reported.
The board said the fine was imposed due to Google’s failure to address the board’s concerns over fair competition with other local search engines.
A statement from the authority said despite Google’s dominant position in the general search services market, it makes it difficult for competitors to operate.
In May the competition authority announced that a fine of 0.0005 percent of the company’s daily revenue would be imposed until it fulfilled some of its obligations, but the new fine was imposed instead.
