Turkey conducts successful test of naval kamikaze drone ‘Albatros’

Turkey recently conducted a successful test of its domestically produced kamikaze unmanned surface vehicle (USV) known as the “Albatros” in the southern province of Mersin, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported on Monday.

The Turkish defense ministry revealed that the test involved a swarm attack using the Albatros USV in conjunction with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The ministry reported that for the first time in the world, a coordinated swarm attack was carried out with these unmanned systems.

Equipped with a warhead produced by Roketsan, the Albatros USV effectively targeted and engaged a test ship, ultimately resulting in the ship’s swift sinking.

Turkey’s domestically produced Bayraktar TB2 UAV also played a role in this test, directing the Albatros USV towards its target.
