Turkey and Armenia begin direct air cargo transportation: report

Must read

Turkey and Armenia began direct air cargo transportation as of January 1, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency reported, citing diplomatic sources.

According to Anadolu, the decision was announced to Turkish exporters by the Turkish Trade Ministry.

The move marks a significant step towards normalization between the two countries, which have a history of hostilities.

In January 2021, the first round of normalization talks was held in Moscow, and both parties agreed to continue negotiations “without preconditions.”

Two more rounds of negotiations were held in February and May of that year.

In February 2022 commercial flights between the two countries resumed after a two-year break.

On March 12 of that year, the foreign ministers of Turkey and Armenia also held a historic bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
