Seven people who allegedly have connections to the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front were detained in police operations in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Wednesday, local media outlets reported.

The detentions were made based an investigation overseen by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, which issued warrants for a total of 11 al-Nusra suspects. Efforts were under way to capture the remaining suspects, according to a statement from the Ankara police.

The radical Syrian group is designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and other countries. The group currently operates under the name of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.
