Turkey adds 963 more coronavirus cases, 15 deaths

Turkey announced 963 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, 44 more than yesterday, bringing the total number to 227,982, while 15 more people have died of the disease, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.

The chart showed the death toll has reached 5,645 with the latest additions.

“The number of deaths in the 24-hour period has decreased to 15 after a month,” the minister tweeted.

There are 1,280 patients in intensive care, 17 more today, of whom 403 are on ventilators.

The chart indicated that 1,092 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.

Turkey conducted 47,412 tests for the coronavirus over the past day, bringing the overall number of tests carried out so far to 4,665,383.

The chart showed that 211,561 people have recovered in Turkey since the start of the outbreak.

Turkey reported its first COVID-19 case on March 11. The country eased preventative measures at the start of June, opening shopping malls, cafes, restaurants and mosques.
