An Ankara administrative court has ruled for a stay of execution of a five-day broadcast ban previously imposed on the Halk TV channel, a staunch critic of the Turkish government, the Diken news website reported on Tuesday.
The sanction was imposed by the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), Turkey’s media watchdog. It will not be implemented unless the court ultimately decides in RTÜK’s favor.
The penalty had also implied that the outlet would lose its broadcast license entirely if it was penalized again in the future.
