Turkey announced 913 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing the total number to 223,315, while 18 more people have died of the disease, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.
According to the chart the death toll has reached 5,563 with the latest additions.
“The number of deceased under 65 years of age among the 1,043 fatalities since June 1 is 136,” Koca tweeted, adding that in the last three days the number of cases increased most in Ankara, Konya, Şanlıurfa, Batman, Adana, Kayseri and Erzurum provinces.
There are 1,251 patients in intensive care, 378 of whom are on ventilators.
The chart indicated that 1,151 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.
Turkey conducted 43,343 tests for the coronavirus over the past day, bringing the overall number of tests carried out so far to 4,446,374.
The chart showed that 206,365 people have recovered in Turkey since the start of the outbreak.
Turkey reported its first COVID-19 case on March 11. The country eased preventative measures at the start of June, opening shopping malls, cafes, restaurants and mosques.
