Turkey announced 918 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, bringing the total number to 218,717, while 17 more people have died of the disease, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.
According to the chart the death toll has reached 5,475 with the latest additions.
For five days in a row the number of daily coronavirus cases has remained below 1,000, the ministry data indicated.
There are 1,231 patients in intensive care, 394 of whom are on ventilators.
The chart indicated that 1,179 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.
The minister tweeted that İstanbul, Ankara, Gaziantep, Konya and Diyarbakır are the five cities that had the highest number of new COVID-19 cases over the past three days, while Artvin, Tunceli, Bayburt, Kırklareli and Bartın provinces saw the smallest increase in new cases over the same period of time.
Turkey conducted 40,943 tests for the coronavirus over the past day, bringing the overall number of tests carried out so far to 4,232,067.
The chart showed that 201,013 people have recovered in Turkey since the start of the outbreak.
Turkey reported its first COVID-19 case on March 11. The country eased preventative measures at the start of June, opening shopping malls, cafes, restaurants and mosques.
