Turkey registers 926 new COVID-19 cases, 18 more deaths

Turkey registered 926 new coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the total number to 217,799, while 18 more people have died of the disease, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.

The chart indicated the death toll has reached 5,458 with the latest additions.

For four days in a row the number of the daily coronavirus cases has remained below 1,000, the ministry data indicated.

However, there are 1,226 patients in intensive care, of whom 402 are on ventilators, an increase of 13 in the number of intensive care patients from yesterday.

The chart indicated that 1,014 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.

Turkey conducted 41,215 tests for the coronavirus over the past day, bringing the overall number of tests carried out so far to 4,191,124.

The chart showed that 199,834 people have recovered in Turkey since the start of the outbreak.

Turkey reported its first COVID-19 case on March 11. The country eased preventative measures at the start of June, opening shopping malls, cafes, restaurants and mosques.
