Turkey quarantines 670 soldiers after dozens test positive for COVID-19

Turkey has decided to quarantine some 670 soldiers in Burdur province, after 33 troops at the same military base tested positive for COVID-19, according to the T24 news website.

The infected soldiers were put into student dormitories near the base.

“The overall health of our soldiers, most of whom are asymptomatic, is good,” the defense ministry said in a statement on Friday.

Turkey had more than 216,000 coronavirus cases as of Thursday and a death toll of 5,440, according to health ministry data.
