Turkey registered 1,003 new coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the total number to 210,965, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.
According to the chart, the death toll has reached 5,323 with the latest additions.
Over the past several weeks the number of new infections has been fluctuating, although it was on an upward trajectory after an easing of anti-coronavirus measures by the Turkish government as of June 1.
The number of intensive care patients increased by three to 1,182. It has been rising since June 10, when the figure was 631.
“The ups and downs in the numbers depend on whether we use masks,” Koca tweeted.
The chart indicated that 1,493 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.
Turkey conducted 48,787 tests for the coronavirus over the past day, bringing the overall number of tests carried out so far to 3,881,410.
The chart showed that 191,883 people have recovered in Turkey since the start of the outbreak.
Turkey reported its first COVID-19 case on March 11. The country eased preventative measures at the start of June, opening shopping malls, cafes, restaurants and mosques.
