Three deputies from the Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, according to a statement from the party on Saturday.
The deputies, whose names were not revealed, tested positive for the virus after all members of the Turkish Parliament had to undergo COVID-19 tests when a cleaning staff member earlier this week turned out to have been infected with the virus.
“Our deputies are under medical surveillance, and they are doing well,” said the HDP statement.
Since registering its first case on March 11, Turkey has so far reported 195,883 cases, while the death toll in the country had reached 5,082 as of Saturday, according to a statement from Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.
