Turkey’s coronavirus cases exceed 185,000, downward trend resumes

Turkey announced 1,214 new coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the total official number to 185,245, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.

The country resumed a downward trend following a one-week spike in the case numbers.

The death toll from the virus, in the meantime, reached 4,905 with an increase of 23 in the last 24 hours.

The number of patients in intensive care continued to rise, increasing by 14 to 769, the chart indicated.

Active cases, however, number around 22,000, with more than 157,500 people having recovered.

Several hospitals in Central Anatolia resumed functioning as coronavirus treatment centers following the spike in numbers.
