Turkey registers 878 new COVID-19 cases, 21 more deaths

Turkey’s confirmed cases of COVID-19 increased by 878 in a single day, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 169,218, while 21 more people have died of the disease over the past 24 hours, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.

The total death toll increased to 4,669, the minister tweeted.

A total of 1,922 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, the chart indicated.

Turkey conducted 35,846 tests for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the overall number of tests carried out so far to 2,303,258.

The chart showed that 135,322 people have recovered in Turkey since the start of the outbreak, while 591 patients are in intensive care, 264 of whom are on ventilators.

Turkey reported its first COVID-19 case on March 11.
